I’m Jerome O'Leary and I'm running for the Pierce County Charter Review Commission in District 1. I believe that efficient and effective government starts with a solid foundation — and that foundation is our County Charter.

Every ten years, voters elect commissioners to review and recommend updates to this critical document. It’s our chance to make sure Pierce County’s government is responsive, efficient, and representative of the people it serves.

I bring a practical, community-first perspective to the work of Charter Review - shaped by decades of experience in business, construction, and public service. Pierce County is more than where I live, it’s where I was born and raised, built my businesses, serve my community, and where my wife and I are raising our daughter on our multigenerational family farm. To help ensure the same opportunities exist for future generations, I’m dedicated to helping build a Charter that reflects the current values, needs, and priorities of the people who call Pierce County home.

Housing costs are rising, transportation systems are strained, public safety resources are stretched, and growth is outpacing infrastructure. Our political systems and policies need to keep up. This Charter Review is our chance to rethink how Pierce County government functions and ensure it reflects the realities of today — while being flexible and strong enough to support the possibilities of tomorrow.
